Calderwood After School and Holiday Club
We believe that high quality child care needn’t be expensive. We aim to provide an excellent service, taking both yourself and your children into consideration. Our main focus is to make sure every child is heard, and that the best early years provision is provided.
We currently offer three services – breakfast club, after school care and holiday club; and are looking to expand.
The first meal of the day is very important, especially for children. Eating a balanced breakfast will set you up for the rest of the day by giving your brain and body a boost, and will provide key nutrients such as calcium, iron and B vitamins. At our breakfast club we offer a variety of foods such as cereal, porridge, croissants, brioche, pancakes and fruits. We also give the children a choice of fruit juice, milk and even hot chocolate.
After their breakfast, the children have free play and group games which allows them to socialise before class.
Breakfast Club hours: 8am – 9am
After School Care Glasgow
Our after school care, again allows children from different schools to socialise and form friendships. We provide a healthy snack, followed by a range of exciting, creative and stimulating activities for children of all ages.
After school has been such a blessing for Bobby – he loves the activities and enjoys the facilities available. Staff are also very friendly and helpful, which eases parents minds when leaving their kids.
– C. Clark
We utilise all the space given to us, and the children spend a lot of time playing outside in the playground. In the playground we have access to football goals, basketball hoops and a trim-trail. Of course we have a wide range of toys that we can take outside, like swing ball, archery and hula hoops.
Inside, we provide a range of arts and crafts such as sewing, painting and origami – again taking into account the age ranges and abilities of all our children. We also have computer games and consoles that the children can use – Xbox, Playstation 2 and a Wii.
We also have movie afternoons, and run fun tournaments for games such as pool, chess, connect 4, table football and table tennis.
After School Care Glasgow hours: 3pm – 6pm
We pick up from a number of schools in the area, and we provide a free drop off service- yes, we will bring your child to you!
Our holiday club is very popular, and we believe it to be the best. Throughout the years, children and parents have given us suggestions on where they would like us to go during the holidays, and we create a programme to suit everyone.
In the past we have visited places such as Rothesay, Blairdrummond Safari Park, Heads of Ayr, Edinburgh Zoo, Burntisland Carnival, Loch Lomond, Dunoon and The Velodrome. We have also visited one of the oldest planetariums in Scotland, been to a Fire Department Training Centre, posted letters from one of Sir Chris Hoy’s golden post boxes and been to many museums in Glasgow and Edinburgh.
The children enjoy coming swimming with us, as well as going ice skating, camping in the park and visiting the cinema.
Andrew and Jamie have settled in fantastically. The holiday club is great, and the boys always come back tired. There are always so many activities, and never a dull moment. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend you, in fact, I already have!
– Karen M
Everyday at our holiday club is treated as an adventure! And staff do their best to make it exciting for all the children. The children love using public transport, especially double decker buses, but we do use our own mini bus from time to time.
We meet at Stonelaw Church halls between 8am and 9am for breakfast, registration and play before setting off.
Holiday Club hours: 8am – 6pm
